Take Me To Your Leader

February 13, 2011

"I thought only of you."  "A Death in Vienna" by Daniel Silva ♦♦♦♦◊

You all have heard that I refer to my sewing machine as "Waldo", haven't you? As in, "Where's Waldo?" because every flat surface in my sewing room/closet is piled high with who-knows-what and it's always an adventure locating my machine.

Clean
But, look!!

It's Waldo! And my sewing table! (And an icky dust rag, but that's a good thing, really) It's so clean!!

RealOkay. Back to the real world. Here's all the, er, stuff that I took off of my sewing table.

I lost track of how much time it took to sort and put away and in some cases trash items in this mountain. Pens and gadgets got put away, projects separated, papers culled and filed.

should

Here's how my sewing table should look when all my 'necessaries' have been (ugh) dusted and properly placed...

realBut lets get real. Here's how it looks now with not one, not two, but SIX UFOs, three of which are aprons, one is the backing for a finished quilt top, one the project from last weekend's Mystery at the beach and the last a barely-begun bright idea that involves Timtex/Peltex.

So many quilters have made a New Year's resolution to finish their UFO's. I applaud them all. I've been there, done that - last time I officially counted my UFO's they numbered more than 60. That was a few years back. And that doesn't count kits and stacks of fabrics folded up with a pattern. Heaven knows that doesn't count the number of big ideas I have!

As I've shown you today, I don't have to dig through closets or shelves or the floor-mountains to find UFO's, though I would find many of them there. Today, the UFOs just seemed to materialize in front of me.

For some reason I suddenly have a craving for mashed potatoes...

The cleanliness didn't last long ROFL. I can't imagine having 60 UFOs!! I think you get distracted very easily :0)

Are we related?? I have the very same 'issues' in my quilt studio!

I not sure how many UFO's I have (I refuse to count!), but I think I'm right in the same neighborhood with you. Yikes!
