The Post That Turned Left

Abandoned book "The Woods" by Harlan Coben ♦♦◊◊◊

Wouldja look at that. I have actually been sewing!

These are the signature swap blocks for my Quilter's Last Resort group. Make 15, keep one for myself & send the rest on.

No, they're not complicated blocks. They were quite easy to put together. But considering the massive amount of NOT sewing I've done recently, they still feel like a major accomplishment!!

The picture looks kinda like a bunch of Charm Packs, doesn't it?

I also did some more sewing on the 'secret' Thimble appliqué quilt blocks. There are four 9-piece sections for each block and I'm doing 12 blocks. So, before borders, the quilt will have 432 pieces in it. And, aw heck: Let's get even more specific and figure that four is the average number of cuts for each piece of fabric. That gets us to 1,728 cuts just for the piecing, not adding in squaring up the fabric beforehand or the blocks afterward.

That sounds kinda impressive to me. I've heard of some people doing the math on how many stitches they knit into a gift (like a pair of socks) and they give that informatin with the gift so the recipient understands that a handmade gift is not 'taking the easy way out' or 'cheap'. Those of us who do this sort of thing - quilt, knit, crochet, scrapbook, whatever - already know that we don't have "cheap" hobbies. And our time is worth something! Again, many of us don't value our creative time to nearly the amount that it's worth.

Hmmm. I wonder where that little side trip came from?

There's more to come, but let me wrap this one up with a recent picture of MoonPie, who recently turned 6 months old. I was trying to get a picture of the blue-jean color of her eyes. Living room light isn't the best to capture true-true colors, but I'll take the photo-ops when I can get them!
