Sand Between My Toes

July 25, 2008

And tomorrow she would cut her hair, short, like a chef. "Death du Jour" by Lou Jane Temple.

Okay! So, I get back from visiting at my mom's and seeing the kids. About 8 p.m. Mr. W. decides it's okay to pop into town to get Subway for dinner. We stop at the mailbox on the way back. I have a package!

The Sandcastles Mini by PatchAbilities arrived from Brenda, my new best friend over at Pumpkin Patch Primitives. Thrilling, but puzzling. Wasn't I supposed to be receiving a quilt kit? Why, when I tilted the box, did it go, "tink, tink, clinkle" ? That half block to the house (and then getting the door unlocked) took forEVer. Here's what I found:

Sandcastle Packing Materials

Bowl O'ShellsDo you think that Brenda did that so I wouldn't just rip into the package, but instead let the suspense build while trying to not dump seashells all over the table? Or is this some sort of New Hampshirean (heh - new word?) packing material and I'm just way out of touch with the way things are done these days?

After all the careful de-shelling, it looks like only ONE shell broke in transit. Cool.

You know I was thrilled to win the kit. But golly-gee-wiz and whoop-de-do, didn't Brenda just do it up?

The Haul

And wouldja look at THAT? Saltwater taffy!

Okay, true confession time: It might be more of a finding-a-fifty-in-your-pocket event if the saltwater taffy went to someone who lived, oh, more than an hour or so from the ocean, but hey - just because I live that close doesn't mean I actually GO there! It's been a long time since I've had saltwater taffy!

Am I most excited about the candy? Well, no, of course not. There are some bee-yoo-tee-ful fabrics, including a HUGE piece of background/sky (LOVE it!). The pattern. Too-cute buttons. A note pad (because I can never get too many things to write on) and don't forget the bucket!

Thank you for the package o'fun, Brenda. As promised, I dropped everything (sewing/quilting wise, at least) and started on my little Sandcastle kit. Pics are in the camera, on their way to an internet connection near you!
