I Officially Love Summer

July 17, 2008

I lay next to Jace, stiff as a board, and cried myself into a demon's fitful sleep. "Working for the Devil" by Lilith Saintcrow.

Actually, today I didn't love a whole lot of anything. Oh, such a foul mood I was in! BUT - at about 10:30 this evening I started putting up rhubarb.

Remember when I was talking about meeting new people when I was behind the scenes at the community fair? Well, I'm of the "If you don't ask, you'll never know" school, so while standing in a group of barely acquaintances I said, "Do we know of anybody who has rhubarb that needs a home?" Well, wouldn't you know, but somebody did speak up - and she happened to be J2's neighbor!

I went up to her house and she'd pulled a brown (grocery) bagful - she said, "Do you want more?" And I said, "I don't want to be greedy. But I will take all that you're willing to give me."

We tromped down to the back forty and she commenced to pulling rhubarb while I cut the leafy tops off. By the time she had finished, I could still get the rhubarb stalks into that brown grocery bag, but I definitely had to carry it with two arms!

Heh. I have rhubarb.
Lotsa rhubarb

More specifically, I have twenty 2-cup bags of rhubarb plus one 1-cup bag. If you don't want to actually do the math? 41 cups of rhubarb.

Woo-hoo!

Coming up: A 3-part explanation of how to insert pictures into your Blogger posts without uploading them to Blogger. (This is for Candace, but anybody who wants to can use it!)

Also coming up (hopefully): Grandkid pics. I think I'll be seeing them this weekend. News at 11....

Is there Rhubarb-Strawberry pie in the future? Looks and sounds great.
I posted on my blog about the upcoming blogger picture help. Thank you so much for doing this Tracy, I know that I have seen several others in the same boat.

I'm officially glad summer finally arrived here on the wet side of WA. I'm stumped where is BFE, WA? I'm on the Olympic Peninsula.

Wow, rhubarb is a foreign veggie to me. It just doesn't grow here in the South and we don't know what to do with it!
I came here from Candace's blog b/c I want to follow your lesson on adding photos to Blogger. Thanks in advance!
