Some Assembly Required
December 26, 2008
The world wasn't a perfect place and never would be, but just now, watching dawn come over her godforsaken city, it seemed like a damned good deal. "Origin in Death" by Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb ♦♦♦♦♦
You know, my oldest offspring was born 28 years ago last week (yikes!). Additional offspring and a few grandchildren have followed during those 28 years. In all these years, I don't recall ever having to assemble a Christmas present either the night before or the morning of Christmas.

Until now.
A gift from J2 for Puppy-butt, who has a hard time jumping on and off the furniture in her golden years.
![waiting](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/blogger_img_proxy/AEn0k_vW82CHgf9d8cy0Muqrdqh17Al56OVCnb7x3lTrzW_hAGx8T1ue8q85VNoQ1jgMtTC9FCANvQFLYRVfo5o94iL5koPCmrqbnEVHLH9jfBwGEsc9YvBKtjdw7wDXX8tjL0FFs9QyaFGjLQ=s0-d)
She waited patiently while Mr. W. did the assembling...
![testing](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/blogger_img_proxy/AEn0k_t3WylrE4PDkvEh4UwGG5OiG8Yu8ETtto_AKAd8CxcW7qCG2652fwBW0ssHPxwIEHqkW5_k-F1rw3AGU-t1cL7ZUWw-6JKZzq8O1bX5xRwk0Gp66vnWycW7TsuuDgRgSdf-jLjuWg=s0-d)
Checking it out, amidst bribery attempts and great urging...
![semi success](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/blogger_img_proxy/AEn0k_tDU7dyUpvNGouFgo2STBFVLtGxX4mZiolbIqNzlyMNp1Aq3YmfxGnuiO-mt4fEQ_JPQUfEZ-hnGDarAjRmn-RjVUqrhUwhff9UAFS9aI-_zEEUnQKdTmVVCfXjcSs4C3jeQuxr9St57jE=s0-d)
We tried to help by putting her on the steps... here she is, right before she jumps to the floor!
![not so much](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/blogger_img_proxy/AEn0k_sN9muH79NZIEo0uCGuQs-YC_DkuFTKR2bSC8DktQDI0xgVu2ggkJWPsTLAAWyqP5sKDI1AKi7GPVr0-gUp51Rmac1ymzhup0bv1H6CLxaviMzNz-uS0jpkgWqCUddp88m3olRyRAg=s0-d)
So, not so much. At least not yet. It will just take her some time to get used to it.
But it's pretty darned clever and a very thoughtful gift. Thank you!

It is funny how animals don't seem to think things are the great idea that we think they are. My in-laws spent 2 weeks building a wonderful, insulated dog house (complete with heated sleeping pad) for the old hound dog that "took up" with them and he sleeps outside on the ground. I am sure Puppy Butt will realize how nice this is soon enough.

That is the coolest contraption, I love it! Our little Pepper Dog could use one of those thingies too...I'm just mentioning it in case your puppy dog wants to send it back to Santa, hee-hee

We had to get stairs for one of our cats last yr - not much assembly - took her a couple minutes to use it - she didn't want an audience tho, now she doesn't mind if we see her using it
Want to ?
