My First Postcard

October 01, 2008

"Hey, man! Mercedes-Benz!"  "Invisible Prey" by John Sandford

So, I have a mondo post saved as a draft that is sharing my latest (successful) culinary adventures, talking about the sweater I'm finishing for my granddaughter, and oh, I don't know - a bunch of things.

The thing is, it's waiting for a finished picture of the cute sweater. And the cute sweater STILL needs about 4"/20cm of seaming on one sleeve. That's it.

So, to distract anyone who might be, uh, waiting for a sweater, have I shown you the first fabric postcard I made?

Pretty cute, eh? I have a zillion ideas for more. For a series. For a puzzle. Of course, I haven't made any more yet, but that's okay. Now I know that I can, so that's good enough for me, for now. Oh, and I want to talk to our post office to find out how they feel about actually mailing the little buggers.

Lifesaver had a birthday on Sunday. I didn't send a card, I didn't call. Heck. Unless he or The Girl reads this blog post, nobody will know that I didn't just forget about the whole thing (which is not out of the realm of possibility). I actually spent a good part of the weekend working on a gift for him. It's nothing spectacular, and it is much LESS spectacular than I thought it would be when I started it. I'm having second thoughts. He already probably thinks I'm pretty lame as far as mothers in law go, but I'm all he's got (I hope), so I guess he'll just have to deal. My heart is always there. Often, though, my brain takes a vacation.

I discovered the Fall into Fall Quilter's Blog Giveaway this evening. Click on over, read about it, the begin blog-surfing and commenting like all git-out. You may win something and you will definitely brighten some blogger's day!

i do not think you are lame. you are actually very sweet for mentioning me in your online memoirs. one of those who never knows what he wants for his birthday i am. nor do i remember it most times. you are pretty cool as far as mothers in law go. i never was able to speak to or meet my last one, hense you need not feel the obligated to compete. i hope my spelling is not to bad public view.
