The Grateful Dedgehog
August 09, 2006
What can I say? How about TOO CUTE!
I'm loving this guy, already 3/4 done with a second, non-traditionally colored one. (What a great way to use up those Fun Fur and Boa skeins that are gathering dust!)

Fiber Trends "Huggable Hedgehogs" pattern, by Debbie Radtke.
Patons Classic Wool/Merino in off-white (less than one skein), LB Fun Fur Prints in Citrus (over 1 skein), needlepoint wool in kelly green. (sizes US 10-1/2 and 11 needles)
'Jewelry' is from Dress It Up, Tiny Collection, "Retro" (a Jesse James company).
Eyes are 3/8" buttons, nose is embroidered with LB Microspun in black.
The off-white didn't felt as well or as quickly as previous attempts. I shoulda remembered that from reading other peoples' posts - something to do with the bleaching process. The furry part of the body seems to be awfully big, don't know if that's a result of using the off-white or if that's the way the pattern works. I'll find out with the next one, in a few days. I'm still quite happy with this little guy; the body went quite quickly (LOTS of short rows!) and the back took a little longer. The actual knitting took me probably about 6-7 hours.
It's actually (lightly) raining right now, but I'm not going to take the time to model and photograph Meredith; I'm getting ready to go visit Mom and hopefully finish up the re-landscaping that I started last year.

I'm one of those people who view your blog regularly and don't leave a comment. After seeing your little critter I have to say (again) how cute it is, with his little belly button. I've never ceased to be amazed of your talent...how proud I am of you. (My yard looks great by the way. Thanks for all your hard labor in getting it done.)
